Kenya, Ethiopia, and Somalia Health ministers are anticipated to launch a spot polio vaccination marketing campaign for the Horn of Africa in Garissa town on Fri.
They'll be hosted by Kenya’s General health CS Sicily Kariuki and the county federal government of Garissa.
Within a press statement on Thursday night, the CS said the Global Polio Eradication Initiative suggested two rounds of synchronised polio vaccination campaigns to be executed in Somalia, Kenya, and Ethiopia.
She said this is because of the recent isolation of more circulating vaccine-derived polio infections in Somalia, and particularly in areas near to Kenya-Somalia-Ethiopia border.
"The first circular of the promotions in Kenya will be conducted from Sept 15 to 19 and following round in Oct."
Kariuki said the advertising campaign focuses on 827,089 children below five years.
Both planned items in Kenya will target 12 high-risk areas which may took part in the July and August prophylaxie drive
They include Nairobi, Wajir, Garissa, Mandera, Lamu, Tana River, Meru, Kitui, Machakos, Isiolo, Kiambu, and Kajiado counties.
